With tears, laughter, and very informative since I was at work and missed the beginning, then when we got to our apartment, we realized we only have ESPN news so we couldn't actually watch the draft. If the Northern Arizona coach really feels this way, then I'm sure he won't mind if we do away with the automatic bids for the conference champions (which is the only way Northern Arizona would EVER get in the tournament) and just send the 68 teams that have the best resume over the course of the season, right?RFhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04239309041740210376noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1650929922841806259.post-90023538080220504632011-04-06T21:52:20.566-04:002011-04-06T21:52:20.566-04:00It was the coach from Northern Arizona. He faced adversity with one of the Collinsworth brother's having season ending surgery, as well as Davies being kicked off the team.

Instead Jimmer had to play about 275 of the seasons final 280 minutes (played at Mountain West and NCAA Tournament pace). For, Jimmer to do what he did in that amount of time, I am looking forward to see what Jimmer can do in the NBA playing 100% on offense and defense for 20 or so minutes a game.

Good luck to you JimmerDavid Farnsworthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17456408149115021320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1650929922841806259.post-81960320917763573982011-03-27T22:08:36.214-04:002011-03-27T22:08:36.214-04:00My Letter to Rick Reilly- the whole concept of wri...My Letter to Rick Reilly- the whole concept of writing and angry letter and putting it in a drawer

Rick,

I want to begin by saying I love your column. I Look forward to it, and share the funny parts with my wife. Having read your column for several years on ESPN and SI I have come to appreciate your work. I loved the piece you did on the Detroit Red Wings where you crossed out certain words and replaced them with different ones. After reading so many of your pieces I feel I am in a position to share my opinion of your work. I think the majority is very good. However, your piece on Jimmer Fredette is trash. I actually printed it off and asked my dog to urinate on it because it was so poorly constructed. You clearly wrote the piece on little sleep while approaching a deadline. Half of it was space occupying quotes because you had nothing to say. My guess is you took advantage of your time in the big easy and woke up with a huge hangover 15 minutes before your column was due.

You evaluated a player based on one performance. That is like someone evaluating you on one column instead of your entire body of work. Is that fair? Would you value their opinion? I would not.

You say Maravich could get his shot off from the bottom of a pool or go for 40 in handcuffs. Well what do you call averaging nearly 30 points when being double and triple teamed?

I love that you criticize a guy who scored 30+ points in a sweet sixteen game against a talented, athletic team.

You probably couldn't score 30 points against third graders while playing on a nerf hoop!

Jimmer Fredette is exactly what you want in a college athlete. Talent, humility, staying in school through senior year instead of chasing fame and riches. He did things the right way and you throw that in his face. Shame on you.

This much I know. In one season he has achieved more fame and recognition than you ever will. When someone says "Rick" they have no idea who you are talking about. When someone says "Jimmer" no doubt! But only BYU fans have to cope with this moral struggle. The sports fanatic (natural man) in me is frustrated at the injustice of it all. Why not have an investigation? Why not suspend for one quarter like other schools and privately give a slap on the wrist? Why throw away the dream season? On the other hand, the church member side of me has to acknowledge and appreciate the integrity of BYU in upholding the high standards against any and all. I should be happy to be associated with a University/church that keeps things in persepctive and walks the walk. But right now, it's still a little hollow. And I disagree as well- I dont think a long tourney run is feasible. I hope Im wrong, but I think we are a 7 seed masquerading as a 1 seed.Matt Mariannonoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1650929922841806259.post-60558354401397471162011-03-02T10:57:44.131-05:002011-03-02T10:57:44.131-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.Matt Mariannohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10083213999252875697noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1650929922841806259.post-7195342298484688482011-03-02T10:18:12.107-05:002011-03-02T10:18:12.107-05:00I would rather be Baron Davis... at this momentI would rather be Baron Davis... at this momentRyanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12768122405760273698noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1650929922841806259.post-35662383905000596782011-03-02T10:02:36.298-05:002011-03-02T10:02:36.298-05:00I think BYU will be okay in the MWC tourney. It's just too bad that it has to go so public, this is just like the Harvey incident back last year. But there has been so much hype about BYU and their awesome players this year, and as SDSU so lovingly pointed out that yes, we are Mormon, and our missionaries look so adorable in their shirt and tie and bicycle helmet, there's a reason for the honor code. BYU is a unique university, and ESPN, articles, and other schools love to point that out. The honor code is unique, and as hard as I 'm sure it was for the school to make act on this suspension, there can't be any exceptions to something you sign in order to be honored with a cougar jersey. It's just too bad when you see it happen to such a great athlete, then people look down on him, when in reality, who are you to judge. It is a let down, but having Hartsock getting even more solid down low, and Kyle Collinsworth able to be used as a 4 spot might work out for us in our favor. A lot of people have begun to lose hope, but really, I'm still just as excited as I was before to see how the cougs finish out their year, I just hope that Brandon can put his act together and hopefully he'll be sporting that beautiful navy Y sometime in the near future! :)Jenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11642805373418606480noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1650929922841806259.post-50126279053468282412011-03-01T23:16:50.757-05:002011-03-01T23:16:50.757-05:00I would have to agree.
